In essence representing the vast terrain with the horizontal lines of colours of the theme. Accentuated by the field of tulips in the foreground, a gentle nod to their origin from Kazakhstan. The lady on the horsback alludes to the vastness of the terrain and the nomadic life. This sculpted silhouette in wool is expressive of the confluence of the traditional and the contemporary. Raw, naturally dyed woollen hanks and braided yarns a horse. The exaggerated long braids in a free spirited flow complete the unique aesthetic sensibility emerging from this landscape. It is a layered lush green landscape with a hint of the technological underpinnings of parametric metal and 3D printed terracotta forms that progressively transform into a material landscape that includes a cluster of biomaterials—kombucha leather, mycelium, algae and bio-plastics—all carefully grown in the studio over a span of many months. This is further augmented by gorpcore and craggy inspired sub sections. Gorpcore, a stylistic movement of object and high performance wear that represents a functional outdoor environment. Craggy, the raw organic combined with a metallic landscape, add to the experience of Solarpunk. The community feast table represents a feeling of collective sharing. The story of Soil is abstracted into varied layers of interesting surfaces-embracive, enveloping and comforting. The core is a nurturing womb and a garden of time. The de-bossed roots bring in a sense of drama where the powerful roots imply the nurturing character of soil but also its quiet strength. The theme area of the space consists of different layers of soil interpretations through different materials, colours and techniques implying the endless narratives soil contains or have been embedded over time. The surface texture, material, and treatment of colours hint at the historical, geological and also the raw essence of the theme. The projected experience includes the raw and the artisanal flavour while also panning to include the modern application of soil. The layers are articulated with different materials and techniques to echo a sense of versatility, warmth, comfort, and also the overall spirit reflecting in the environment. The physical colour, form and material space resonates with theearthy, raw and sensorial character of soil as a medium of exploration and creation. It is through our installation design; the viewers are made to experience the unique visual manifestation of the theme. Deliberate and clever juxtaposition of unlikely visual pairings, a collection of hybrid futuristic attired backlit portraits is set in a typical Indian Mahal backdrop made with felt, digital printing and embroidered embellishments. The Mahals with an exploded view of flattened panels are further surrounded by old Indian streets printed on metallic silver to augment the idea of the old and new. This trend is communicated through a biotech research lab like installation. A long table in the center of the lab displays the intriguing world of microorganisms growing in scaled-up Petri dishes. A few of the Petri dishes animate the bacterial/ fungal growth forming impressive visuals and typography related to the trend story. It celebrates non-conforming as a badge of success, thinly-veiled with self deprecating humour on the inability to ‘adult’ . The idea of Adulting is presented through an abstracted space created using stacked cartons and bold yet child-like imagery and illustrations. For this trend, we designed an immersive experience of a quaint whimsical forest, through illustrated visuals in multiple layers that engulfs the visitor with an awe-inspiring experience. The forest-scape comes to life when small and fluid animations on camouflaged screens break the static-ness and create intimate and magical zones of activity.
